I explore an uncertainty that I felt in my everyday life through my works. I’m interested in fatigue that come from modern day life’s tangled context and some things I don’t know yet in there. In my work, I seek to find reasons and counterplans (alternatives) about the anxiety and confusion of everyday life through uncertainty. The uncertainty that I want to define is not just unclear and vague, it’s more like an undecided status that has possibility to be anything. Though it can give the illusionistic comfort that I have options to choose, when I decide to keep or discard an object I regain my comfort in the control over my personal choices.
“Jihyun Han works across sculpture, video and 3D models in an intentional exploration of the mind’s patterns. In Han’s “The Circulation of Intentional Uncertainty” series, the artist draws parallels between the ricochet motions of pinball and obsessive thinking—embracing internal chaos by turning the inexplicable loops and tangents of everyday thoughts into a game rather than an unwanted distraction.”
